Baking tip #5 → Egg substitute
Imagine you are craving banana bread and you find all of the necessary ingredients for your recipe including perfectly ripe bananas. You think you have everything you need until you open the fridge and see you are out of eggs (😭). You have two options: Give up on banana bread or run to the store to pick up eggs. But, what if I told you there is a third option.
Applesauce. That’s right, for every 1 egg, substitute 1/4 cup applesauce. This hack is also useful if you want to make any recipe vegan. If you are worried about the apple flavor, I can assure you that when it bakes you cannot taste it. Also, make sure to use unsweetened applesauce so the sweetness of your baked good is not altered.
So next time your eggs are no where to be found, try this ‘egg-celent’ applesauce trick! :)
