Sophia’s SECRET Caramel Sauce!
Ingredients:
- 1 cup granulated white sugar
- 5 tablespoons salted butter
- ½ cup heavy cream
Directions:
- Heat white sugar in a medium saucepan over high heat, stirring constantly with a high heat resistant spatula or whisk.
- The sugar will start to clump. Keep mixing until the sugar fully dissolves and turns into an amber-colored liquid.
- Once the mixture turns amber, pour butter in immediately. The caramel should begin to bubble once the butter is added.
- Pour in the heavy cream once the butter is fully combined with the sugar. The mixture should bubble and rise quickly.
- Keep mixing until heavy cream is combined. Turn off the heat.
- Let the caramel cool completely.
- Transfer into a jar. Store in the refrigerator for up to 1 month. The caramel will solidify in the fridge. Simply reheat in the microwave for 1 minute and you will have warm, gooey, caramel sauce.
- Enjoy!
